Culture and Rural Development in the East Midlands
An initiative by Culture East Midlands
This site was developed by Culture East Midlands in 2006 as a service that would provide information about cultural projects and organisations in rural parts of the East Midlands. It focuses particularly on the arts, museums, libraries and heritage in the public and voluntary sectors. There are project case studies, a resource section, a contacts list and a new collection of Set Aside opinion pieces on rural culture written by writers from throughout the UK. All of the sections are organised by county, cultural activity and rural issues.
Culture East Midlands completed their work in 2009 and this site now remains as a resource archive of material that would still be of use to those people working on rural culture in or even further afield than the East Midlands.
We are delighted that through the Culture in Rural Development programme, the East Midlands Arts in Rural Areas Network (EMARAN) was developed and since 2008 has been operating independently. This new network has been developed with the aim of supporting arts in rural areas and rural regeneration through the arts. You can visit their website at www.emaran.org and find out more about what they are doing.
